Parking/Use Restrictions Planned for Hauser Dam Area on April 9

Apr 09, 2015

Butte, Mont. – April 2, 2015 – NorthWestern Energy has planned parking and use restrictions for the area near Hauser Dam north of Helena on Thursday, April 9, 2015. The restrictions will allow for the removal of a turbine at the hydroelectric dam.

  • The project will affect travel on Lincoln Road from its intersection with Interstate 15 to Hauser Dam. Slow-moving equipment will use the route on Lincoln Road and Hauser Dam Road on the morning of April 9 and later in the day as the turbine is removed from the dam site.
  • There will be parking restrictions in place at the Hauser Dam parking area on April 8 and 9. Cones restricting parking will be put in place on April 8 to prevent vehicle parking on April 9. Vehicles parked at the dam that restrict equipment movement will be towed at owner’s expense.
  • Pedestrian traffic across the dam will be restricted on April 9. Walking across the dam may be prohibited for two to three hours at a time as equipment is set up and the turbine is removed.

NorthWestern apologizes for the inconvenience caused by the project. The public’s    cooperation with parking and use restrictions will allow workers to safely complete the work. Plans call for a new turbine to be returned to Hauser in September.
