NorthWestern Energy Donates $5,000 to Help Shelter Homeless in Great Falls

Dec 05, 2016

Butte, Mont. – Dec. 5, 2016 – NorthWestern Energy has donated $5,000 to the Great Falls Rescue Mission and its new Cameron Family Center, which will provide shelter space for homeless families.

The recently opened Cameron Family Center is a three-story, $1.4-million building that provides safe, warm shelter for families, including those with a single parent. The new building will have room for 26 families in private rooms and an additional eight families in short-term spaces. All of the family rooms have private bathrooms.

Fundraising for the center has been taking place for several years. The new center will help staffers avoid turning away families in need of temporary shelter.

“The need for the family shelter space in our community was very clear,” said Scott Patera, manager, Community Relations for NorthWestern’s Great Falls division. “Our local donations committee saw that need and we hope others in the Great Falls area will join us in supporting this valuable project.”

As part of its Community Works programs, NorthWestern gives more than $2 million annually in support of charitable causes and economic development programs across its service territory.
