We serve gas and electric to customers in the western two-thirds of Montana and eastern South Dakota. We also have gas service in Nebraska and serve electricity to Yellowstone National Park.
NorthWestern owns and operates a diverse generation fleet of wind, water, natural gas and coal-fired resources and the high-voltage electric transmission system and distribution system. We also own and operate natural gas production, transmission and distribution systems.

NorthWestern Energy Proud to Support Career Exploration at Career Quest/Construction Day in Harlowton

Harlowton, Mont. – May 8, 2026 – NorthWestern Energy was honored to participate in Career Quest/Construction Day in Harlowton, an event designed to introduce students to hands-on career opportunities in Montana’s construction and energy industries.
Crews from NorthWestern Energy’s Lewistown and Harlowton service centers attended the event to share information about careers with the company, discuss skilled trades and explain the education and career pathways available to those interested in working in the energy industry.
More than 500 students from across central and southeastern Montana took part in the event engaging in hands-on learning experiences and exploring a wide range of potential career paths. Career Quest/Construction Day was organized by Reach Higher Montana and Build Montana to connect students with employers and industry professionals.
NorthWestern Energy employs more than 1,350 people across Montana and has proudly partnered with Career Quest/Construction Day for the past three years as part of its commitment to workforce development and community engagement. NorthWestern Energy also donated two bicycles for the event’s parents’ and kids’ night held the day before Career Quest.
“NorthWestern Energy is honored to help introduce the next generation to the rewarding, hands-on careers available in the energy industry,” said a NorthWestern Energy Community Relations Specialist Shaye Skovgaard. “Events like Career Quest give students an opportunity to see firsthand how skilled trades and energy careers support our communities and help power Montana’s future.”
