NorthWestern Energy is hosting a public meeting from 7 – 9 p.m. July 12 at the West Yellowstone Holiday Inn Conference Center, 315 Yellowstone Ave., West Yellowstone, Mont. to discuss topics related to the Madison River.

Permanent repairs and upgrades to the release gate at Hebgen Dam will begin later this summer and are expected to be complete by mid-September.

Cochrane Dam, located on the Missouri River outside of Great Falls, will be open to bicyclists and hikers to cross the river on Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy (Nasdaq: NWE) reported financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2022. Net income for the period was $59.1 million, or $1.08 per diluted share, as compared with net income of $63.1 million, or $1.24 per diluted share, for the same period in 2021. This $4.0 million decrease was primarily driven by lower Montana and Nebraska residential natural gas volumes, higher operating costs, and higher income tax expense. These unfavorable items were partly offset by higher Montana electric transmission revenue and electric retail volumes.

The Missoula City Substation #1 is adjacent to East Caras Park. Originally built in the 1920s, the substation has been in continual use with investments and maintenance. This $10 million upgrade project will take the substation offline for a thorough rebuild.

Projects funded in 2022 raise the total to150 projects with $5.5 million in funding by the River Fund Trust and $1.4 million in matching funds from Northwestern Energy in the past 16 years. River Fund grants and NorthWestern Energy matching funds have helped leverage public agency and partner funding to provide more than $11 million in public recreation improvements in the Missouri-Madison corridor.
