NorthWestern Energy completes two-year $7.8 million Chamberlain switchyard, providing redundancy and increased reliability

NorthWestern Energy’s joint $7.8 million Chamberlain switchyard project is being completed this month. NorthWestern Energy is working jointly with East River Electric, an electric cooperative based in Madison, South Dakota. The new switchyard will provide redundancy and increase reliability on the transmission system that serves customers in the area.

Public access at Madison Dam will temporarily close Nov. 15 for construction project

NorthWestern Energy power line upgrade along 10th Avenue South will detour alley traffic

NorthWestern Energy is upgrading power lines in Great Falls along the 3000 block of 10th Avenue South. Traffic will be delayed and detoured along the alley immediately north of 10th Avenue South from 32nd Street South to 38th Street South at times until the project is completed in December.

NorthWestern Energy substation upgrade in Roundup requires Oct. 18 planned power outage

NorthWestern Energy electric customers in Roundup, Klein, Musselshell and Melstone will have a planned power outage beginning about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18. The outage is expected to last about six hours. NorthWestern Energy is upgrading substation equipment in the Roundup area. Equipment that is nearing the end of its useful life is being replaced to increase service reliability for our customers.

Hebgen Dam flow increasing May 26 to enhance Madison River trout spawning gravel

Hebgen Dam outflows will gradually increase over several days to coincide with peak runoff in the West Fork Madison River and other tributary streams. The flow release increase is planned to begin May 26 and will continue through the end of May. River recreationists should be aware of the changing conditions and take appropriate precautions.

NorthWestern Energy requests lower rates for Townsend propane customers

NorthWestern Energy has filed for an interim decreased supply rate for our approximately 600 Townsend customers with the Montana Public Service Commission. If approved by the Montana PSC, the decrease for a typical residential customer using 55 therms per month will be on average $15.68 per month in the summer months, $9.04 per month in the winter months and $4.10 per month in the spring months.
